Proverbs 31:8-9

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Intentionally starting with a discarded piece of cardboard, I challenged myself to look beyond what the world dismisses as being worthless and see value and beauty that is worth my time, resources, energy, and love. How often have I not noticed the value in another human being because I reject the packaging, not spoken up for the disenfranchised or defended the defenseless because it is too much work to get involved, or not poured into the lives of the poor because I have my own “needs”? Will I take the time to invest in a work of art that other walk right past?
