1 Samuel 2:1-10, Deut. 34: 2

Connect:  Who has formed your imagination on how life works? Who has your heart? What need do you have that is out of your power? Have you ever been bullied by someone and what did you do with that situation?

Engage:  Re- read 1 Samuel 2:1-10. What do you notice in Hannah’s prayer? Is there something that sticks out to you as you read it.

Hannah has no standing or status in her culture. However, she has devoted her life to God. God is going to do something but not through the powerful but God is going to work through Hannah who has no clout.

Have you ever experienced a situation of not having power in a situation, where did you take your frustration in that situation?

Where do you see the Lord working today in the world through no power?

Deut. 32:4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright, and just is he.

What do you read from this verse – unpack this a bit with your group or individually. How does this play out in your life today?

Hannah pours out her heart to God so much so that Eli thinks she’s drunk. Confronts her. Have you ever been so distraught and poured out your heart to God, that it looked uncomfortable? What was that experience like for you?

God blesses Hannah with a child, and she does what she says she’s going to do. She dedicates Samuel to the temple. Have you ever made a vow to God? Did you follow through with that vow or not? Why or why not?

Through Samuel (Hannah’s son) – he is the one who anoints David and through all of this the Messiah came. Where can we trust the Lord for His will in the world?

Apply:   What power or resource have you received? Who is God asking you to lift up?

What is one take away that God is asking you to ponder, or do considering this message what is God asking you to apply to your life this week?
