  • After participating in (or viewing) Sunday’s service, what worship expression(s) spoke to you the most powerfully? Why? Share with your group some of what the Lord taught you through those expressions.
  • Philip Tyken says in his book, Art for God’s Sake: A Call to Recover The Arts, that “Art has suffered a tragic loss of sacred beauty, as many modern and postmodern artists have been attracted instead to absurdity, irrationality, and even cruelty. Stuart McAllister was right when he wrote that ‘much of the energy and effort in our artists and cultural architects has gone to debunking, dismantling, or deconstructing all that is good, beautiful, and respected, to be replaced with the shallow, the ugly, the ephemeral.’” Do you agree with this assessment? What are ways that the church can redeem the arts and recover a biblical theology of beauty in our worship services?
  • Genesis 1 teaches that we are set apart from the rest of creation, being made in the image of God, in His likeness. Later in the Psalms, David outlines some of the extreme care and intricacy with which God has formed each and every one of us from conception. Why is this significant? What does this imply about your worth and significance, and that of others?
  • Worship is something that unites believers by the Holy Spirit and for His glory and the church’s edification. In what ways do you need to evaluate and perhaps improve your contributions to that unity? Is there anything you need to repent of that has caused disunity?
