Small Group Questions

What was the most meaningful part of the service for you?

Read through John 17. What stands out to you most about Jesus’ prayer?

We are all in desperate need of salvation, but we tend to shape Jesus in the form we most want to see. How have you shaped Jesus? Where could you see that He might have more to offer than you imagined?

What would be different in your life if you saw evil the way Jesus does?

What places is Jesus weeping over in your life? Have you wept with Him? Have you let Him into that broken place? What would it look like to let Him into that brokenness?

How might Jesus want to use your brokenness to bring hope to others?

CONNECT
What spoke to you this Sunday either through the Sunrise Resurrection Walk, the Baptisms, and/or the message?

ENGAGE
Read out loud together John 20:1-18. Place yourself in the story.  What do you think your response would have been: belief? unbelief? weeping? running? telling what you saw?

Discuss the tenderness of Christ with Mary Magdalene as well as the majesty of God revealed in this story.

Discuss this C.S. Lewis quote: “Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts to us in our pains.  It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”  How has pain been God’s gift to you and put you on your knees looking for hope?

APPLY
Don’t wait. The hound of heaven is after you. What is God asking you to do that will make this year be different than last year: accept Him? embrace Him? go tell others about Him?

Pray for one another to seek God’s will for each of your lives in the upcoming year as you look for a new beginning in one area of your life.
