A BELIEVER’S HEART
Wood Burning on Basswood and Colored Pencil
By Randy Benedetto
But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.
This vulnerable and dependent little baby, born in the humblest of circumstances, was as noble as a king. This endearing portrait of Mary and the infant Jesus seeks to capture the mystery of His incarnation. Every parent relates to their tender kiss and tight embrace, and every believer clings to Christ just as closely in their heart. Inspired by a classic painting by the artist Morgan Weistling, I began this piece by burning into basswood then adding depth and color with pencils.
