What are you thankful for during this season of Thanksgiving?

ENGAGE
Read Isaiah 55:1-13. Discuss how God’s ways are not our ways in this chapter. What do you learn about who God is and what He does for us in this chapter?

Psalm 103:11-12 is the only other place in scripture in which the phrase “for as high as the heavens are above the earth” is used. How do these verses correlate with Isaiah 55:8?

Discuss this quote from Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund: “He doesn’t limit himself to working with the unspoiled parts of us that remain after a lifetime of sinning. His power runs so deep that he is able to redeem the very worst parts of our past into the radiant parts of our future. But we need to take those dark miseries to him.” How is the quote affirmed by verses in Isaiah 55?

APPLY
Where are you in your journey of faith? Ponder these thoughts and actions that can be taken in your life:

COME EVERYONE, WHO DOES NOT DESERVE IT, INTO THIS BANQUET OF SALVATION: Have you done so?
FEAST AT HIS TABLE: What am I feasting on?
RECEIVE HIS PROMISES BY FAITH: What parts of my life do I not believe He has “abundantly pardoned” me when I have brought my sins before Him?
SEEK THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND: Where am I procrastinating in life to come before Him and to obey His word?
WAIT ON GOD’S PROMISES: Where in my life can I look back and see clearly where God was at work, but it was not my ways of doing it? How did He draw me closer to Him during this time?

PRAY
Pray for God’s wisdom, that we will learn to trust by faith His ways and His promises more and more, even when we don’t understand His eternal purpose and plans for our life.
