THE ROSE CHALICE

Pottery; self-mined Colorado native clay; hand-built form, saggar-fired.

Composite – from the Chalice (comes from the Latin, “calyx” meaning cup) of Christ used at the Last Supper and The Rose, which is Christ Himself.

My firing method typically produces shades of deep rose red and some pinks, accented with black and white. More often than not, my pieces have no names when they are loaded into the kiln to be fired, but they announce themselves when they come out of the fire, very much like our lives.
