Matthew 6:25-26, 33
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? …But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Several years ago, I read of an 80-year-old woman who wouldn’t sell her house to someone unless they agreed to stop whatever they were doing at 10:00 each morning and spend at least five minutes sitting still and watching the birds in the back yard. Why? I bought a couple of bird feeders and sunflower seeds to find out why. Now I know. This small, but brave little bird faces the wind and storms of life free, unfettered, careless, and unconcerned, because he knows God provides all he needs.
