Have you ever had a physical transformation of weight loss, hairstyle change or makeover? Did others notice? Tell of your experience of those commenting on your dramatic change.
ENGAGE
Familiarize yourself with the story of Jacob in the Old Testament in Genesis 26-33. Discuss his life as a deceiver, his bargaining with God his wrestling with God, his walk with a limp, and his transformation afterwards.
Attached is 1) The Critical Journey Chart and 2) The stages explained for the Critical Journey. Discuss the various stages of our Christian Walk. Where are you on this chart?
APPLY
Discuss these statements:
1.Transformation begins with God’s mercy (Genesis 32:24)
2.God transforms those who seek Him. (Genesis 32:25)
3.Our identity is in Christ (Genesis 32:25)
4.God desires for us to know Him intimately. (Genesis 32:30)
5.Transformation brings about greater humility and love in our lives. (Genesis 32:31)
Our suffering has a purpose to transform us into the image of Christ. Have you experienced this spiritually in your life? Have you ever hit the wall and said “no thanks” to God for what He has in store for you and turned your back on Him?
PRAY
Pray that we would humble ourselves and trust by faith what God has in mind for us to be transformed into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
