CONNECT
Do you have a favorite memory of Easter or what you enjoy the most about this day each year?

ENGAGE
Read Luke 24: 13-35. Did you learn anything knew from the sermon on this passage?  What sticks out to you in the story?  What questions do you have from this story?

What significance is there that Jesus appeared first to the woman at the tomb (v. 24) and then to these two on the road to Emmaus (v. 15)?

What Old Testament prophecy could Jesus have pointed out to them while explaining that He needed to be our Suffering Savior?  Some examples are: Genesis 3:15, Deuteronomy 18: 15, Isaiah 7:14, 53:3, 7

Discuss how this journey took these 2 followers from head knowledge to heart knowledge.  What is the significance of Jesus breaking bread with them?

Discuss these 4 points:

  1. Jesus shows up when you least expect it and with people you do not expect.
  2. When He appears we often don’t see Him
  3. God will not let us keep our false images of Him.
  4. We need to ask Him to stay and fellowship with us.

APPLICATION
Where are you in this story?  Where is God trying to get your attention? How is He using His word to speak into your life today?   How is He using His Holy Spirit to speak into your heart today? Are you walking with Him daily, listening to what He has to say to you?

PRAY
Pray that the Lord will open your spiritual eyes to see His kingdom clearly, and then to tell others of the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins, has risen and lives forever more.
