Women’s Summer Bible Study – Archived 2020

In 2020, our entire world has changed at breathtaking speed. Yet in the middle of a global pandemic, in the midst of worldwide unrest, we find ourselves in the middle of our own mess. Many of us are dealing with world-shaking, earth shattering, heartbreaking events right in our own homes. These are the moments when our faith in God collides with real life.

This women’s Bible study on 1 Peter helped us discover lasting hope and peace during difficult days. You’ll meet five women who faced enormous trials with grace and strength, learn five strategies for surviving any crisis, and uncover five purposes of suffering. Move beyond wishful thoughts and hopeful dreams into unwavering faith and amazing grace!

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your HOPE FULLY on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13

The series was taught live and in-person by Amy Lively at ClearView Community Church with a video-streaming option in July and August, 2020.

Week 1: Oh What A Difference A Space Makes!

July 7. 2020

Is 2020 the beginning of the end times? It might be. It might not. It’s not for me (or anyone else) to say. Or, you may be experiencing the end of your world as you know it. These are the moments when our faith in God collides with real life. This is when our belief about the end of days determines how we live in the difficult days in between.

John, Paul, and Peter were less concerned with the question of “When?” the end might come and more concerned with the question of “What?” they would do each day until that happened.

Week 2: Now, Then & When

July 14, 2020

As we long for the good ol’ days and worry about the future, the present moment slips away. How can we synchronize our watches with God’s clock to keep time with eternity?

We’ll see how Peter failed to love his neighbor before he gave us the command to “Love Soul Fully,” one of our five strategies for surviving the end of our hopes and dreams.

Special guest Michelle Edwards will share how the Lord is sustaining her after her husband finished his race.

Week 3: Just Like Jesus

July 21, 2020

Jesus was chosen, precious, and elect… He was also insulted, reviled, and rejected. As imitators of Christ and God’s special people, we should not be surprised when we also suffer.

Peter commanded us to show hospitality without complaining, and we’ll see if he was able to live up to his own tall order.

Kelly Fohner will join us to share how God has walked with her family after her son, Josh, experienced a traumatic brain injury here in Buena VIsta.

Week 4: My Gethsemane

 July 21, 2020

Peter gets really bossy in this little book as he gives specific commands to particular roles like citizens, slaves, masters, wives, husbands, elders, and youth. He also provides general principles we can apply to all relationships and circumstances.

We’ll study the survival strategy of “Pray Mind Fully” and see how Peter learned this lesson the hard way in Gethsemane.

You’ll watch Peter’s words to wives come to life in the story of our special guest, Jennifer Rhonemus.

Week 5: Old Made New

August 4, 2020

Do we get a break from using our spiritual gifts during a global pandemic… or are they more imporant than ever? We’ll figure this out as we learn to Serve Faith Fully in Week 5.

Peter had lots of spiritual gifts and he misused them all! We’ll examine how our old ways are made new after we meet Jesus.

Special guest Sarah Shanks has flown in from Dallas to share the beautiful story of redemption God wrote in her life. Don’t miss it!

Week 6: Glory Revealed

August 11, 2020

There were technical difficulties during the recording that resolve after a few minutes.

There’s a point to all this pain, and it is to reveal the glory of God – first in our own heart, then to the people around us, then in all the heavenly places as we “Live Glory Fully”.

The special guest this week is YOU. You are being asked to share a tale of how your suffering trained you to set your hope fully on God.

  • What trial did God chose for you?
  • What were you hopeful would happen?
  • Were there times you could not see Jesus?
  • When did you walk with joy, grace, and peace?
  • Who did God draw into your story to reveal His glory?
  • How is your hope fully set on Christ now?

Several women from ClearView boldly yet vulnerably stepped forward to share their story for God’s glory.
