Connect:  Have you ever read Isaiah? What do you think about Isaiah being the 5th gospel.  Where have you seen God provide when you felt you have been a bruised reed.

Engage:  Isaiah prophesies that even after Israel is restored to their land and they will still have issues. What belief about God seems to be the root of their problem according to 40:27?

What theme does God repeat to His people in chapter 41? Why?
What do you see in chapter 42: 1-9? Anything strike you here?
Have you been in a court case with the Lord and what was that like for you?

Court case from the Lord – Exhibit A – the promise of captivity
Exhibit B- Exile came as result of Israel’s sins.

Exhibit C – Downfall of Babylon How will it go down? Exhibit D – Behold my servant

Isaiah 42: 3- He will faithfully bring forth justice.
Emet- means firmness and faithfulness –
Have you struggled with God’s faithfulness?
Where do you struggle with trusting Jesus? Heb 11 – when you read this, what do you notice?

Justice – mispat- Shalom. – where would you like to see shalom in your life and world?

So many of the religious people thought the Messiah should come in power but He came as a servant? vs 2
The Messiah is going to come into those dying places vs 4
Where do you need the Lord to come into your ember or bruised reed and can you trust Him to be faithful in that situation? Why or why not?
