Connect: Have you ever obeyed but were not happy about it? What was that experience like for you?

How have you responded to judgement from someone that was truth?

Engage: Zach shared about Jonah – saying “The way you are doing life is not working. Have you ever experienced life not working for you and what did you do about it? Did you believe God was in that experience?

What do you think of the word Repent (shuv)- return / turn back?
Do you see repentance as a love and grace gift in your life? How do you respond when asked to repent?

What do you think of the statement humanity is bent on being nice to people who give them something?

Zach gave 3 statements:

  1. Recognize God’s judgement as a gift.

    a. Love and justice are married cannot be separated. How do you see that in your life or the life of the church?

    b. What do think of what Zach said about it is not just saying you’re sorry but an invitation to turn around. Have you had an experience where you did turn around or where did you not turn around? What was that experience like for you?

  2. Repentance is both mind and action.
    a. What does that look like in your life or in the lives of others?

  3. Only a relationship with Jesus can change our hearts and desires.
    a. Look at the King of Nineveh and his actions. On your own you cannot change.

Unpack this a bit. What do you think about that statement? Where do you allow Jesus to come in and convict you of areas of your heart or desires of our life?

  4.
