Pentecost: The Holy Spirit Has Come – Part 1

Connect: Is there a promise you are waiting for God to fulfill? Where do you sense the Holy Spirit working in that promise?
Where have you noticed God’s presence in your life?
Engage: Read Acts 2:1-13- Why would speaking in other languages be helpful for them? Consider the immediate context of 2:5
The first-time fire was used Exodus 3 – What would you do if you saw a burning bush? Traditionally, God spoke wind and fire in the Old Testament but Jesus ushered in the promise of the Holy Spirit – not just in the tabernacle and Holy of Holies
God uses everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Zach talked about 3 things we need the Holy Spirit to do that we cannot do ourselves.
- John1:12-“But as many as received him to them He gave the power to become sons of God.”
a. What does that verse mean to you personally?
b. What do you think that means for the church?
c. How would that change us if we lived as sons and daughters of God? - Acts1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.”
a. Where do you believe God is inviting you to trust Him in regards with the Nations?
b. Where do you believe God is inviting you in regard to BV?
c. Where do you not trust the Holy Spirit and what is He inviting you to trust Him?
- Romans 8:24-26 “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
A. What does this verse say to you?
B. Where do you need the Holy Spirit groan and intercede for you?
Apply: What is the Holy Spirit inviting you to through this message? Where do you need to let the Holy Spirit seek your heart for the Truth of what He wants to show you?
