Connect: Where have you served that has brought the most joy? Where have you been served by others that has encouraged you?

Engage: Jesus fed the 5000. Out of 5 loaves and 2 fish in the midst of grief of John. Zach talked about 3 ideas of serving.

#1. To be bothered
a. Compassion – splagchnizomai – means the stirring the inward parts towards action. (bowels) that makes us human.
b. Bombarded with Bad news – we numb out as humans no longer stirred by something.
c.  How do you manage compassion fatigue in this world today?  It must begin with God messing with our guts. Where do you need to ask Jesus to be stirring?  It must be understanding God’s compassion for you

#2. To be transformed
Macrina Weiderkvehr “We are fragile vessels whose love often gets tired. We discover that it is not so much what we do that touches lives as who we are becoming.”

Martin Luther King Jr. “If I stop to help this man what will happen to me? But the good Samaritan came by and he reversed the question: If I do not stop to help this man what will happen to me? “

What do you think of these 2 statements?

#3. To be a blessing
a. Where are you a part of being a blessing with the Church at large?  (drone example)
b. Where do you need to look outward?
c. If we decide we are not a blessing, we become stagnant. When all of us say yes to Jesus we become a blessing and it is beautiful.
